London, 10 December 2025 — Boxing is Love, in partnership with King's College London Amateur Boxing Club (KCL ABC) and King's Sikhs Society, hosted Charan Kaur Dhesi, the first British-born Sikh Woman to join the professional ranks in Boxing.
The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of multiple student organizations at King's College London. In Particular with thanks to Mara Bodea, President of KCL Amateur Boxing Club, Mei, Member of KCL ABC and moderator for the evening's discussion, and Jaiden, Sports Officer of King's Sikhs Society.

The program was structured in two parts. The first half featured a practical boxing training session led by Charan, where participants had the opportunity to learn fundamental techniques and experience the discipline of the sport firsthand, finishing with some partner drills.
Following the training, attendees gathered for an intimate discussion session where Charan opened up about her unique journey in professional boxing. She spoke candidly about the challenges and triumphs of being a pioneer in her field, her commitment to supporting and mentoring young girls interested in boxing, and her ultimate ambition of becoming a world champion.

Breaking Barriers in Boxing
Dhesi's presence in professional boxing represents a significant milestone for representation in British sports. As a British-born Sikh woman, she has navigated cultural expectations while pursuing excellence in a physically demanding and competitive field. Her story resonates particularly with young women from minority communities who may face similar barriers in pursuing their athletic aspirations.
At Boxing is Love, we are dedicated to sharing powerful narratives from the world of boxing that transcend the sport itself. By facilitating events like yesterday's session, we aim to bring these inspiring stories to wider audiences and demonstrate the transformative power of boxing.
