MISSION TRIPS
Delivering essential education in health and science through boxing to support every child in reaching their potential.
Structural inequalities shape outcomes long before talent can speak for itself. Our mission trips respond by strengthening the conditions that allow people to stay healthy, understand their bodies and environments, and build futures that last.

OUR TRIPS' FOCUS
Sports science, Nutrition, Medicine, Basic Education, and Collaboration with Locals
Our mission trips build support structures from the ground up. Volunteers with expertise in sports science, nutrition, medicine, and education collaborate directly with local schools, boxing clubs, and community organisations.
This brings essential knowledge often unavailable in underserved areas, such as nutrition education, strength and conditioning training, and injury prevention protocols. The result is stronger communities with the capacity to create lasting health and educational foundations that improve quality of life for everyone.

WHY GO ON A MISSION TRIP
Boxing can change lives, but it takes more than the sport.
This is your chance to give your time and skills while learning from communities around the world and leaving a lasting impact. We believe communities must retain ownership over what they build.
We are not there to run programmes on behalf of local clubs, nor to define success from the outside. We are here to act as structural support, offering training and resources that enable communities to shape their own futures.
You’ll step into unfamiliar places, work alongside local partners, and use boxing as a shared language to support the futures of underserved young people through Boxing is Love initiatives tailored to each community.
Although the trip may only last a week or two for you, you leave having contributed knowledge in health and education, as well as helping build community bonds that cannot be taken away from the young people involved.
We’re sure you’ll also carry perspectives that stay with you long after the trip ends.

FAQ
Our mission trips are open to individuals with relevant experience or training in sports science, nutrition, medicine, education, or closely related fields. This includes students in later stages of study, qualified professionals, and practitioners working in applied settings. You do not need to be a boxer, but you do need to be aligned with our values and comfortable working collaboratively in unfamiliar environments.
Trips take place in underserved communities internationally, working in partnership with local boxing clubs, schools, and community organisations. Current and recent destinations include Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, and South Africa. New locations added based on local demand and existing relationships.
Trips typically last 7 to 14 days, depending on the location and the nature of the work.
You will work directly alongside local partners to deliver essential education in health and science through boxing. Apart from the sport itself, this may include:
• Nutrition education and food literacy
• Strength and conditioning principles for young athletes
• Injury prevention and basic sports medicine
• Workshops that link health, education, and physical activity
A detailed cost breakdown will be provided once trips are confirmed, but volunteers should expect a total cost (excluding plane tickets) of approximately 1000-2000 USD depending on the location.
All logistics, meals, accommodation, security, and transportation on the ground will be full managed by Boxing is Love and our local partners.
Boxing is Love does not make a profit from the mission trips and the sum is for the sole purpose of covering the costs of organising, and executing the trip.
Fundraising is encouraged but not mandatory. Some volunteers choose to fundraise to support the communities they are working with or to offset programme costs, but this is not a prerequisite for participation.
However, the more funds we have, the more we can provide to local communities.
An application form will open closer to the date of the trips, and everyone who signed up via the interest form, on social media, or our mailing list will be notified. You can apply by completing a short application form outlining your background and motivations, alongside any proof of qualifications. This helps us ensure volunteers are placed where they can genuinely add value and learn responsibly.
Shortlisted applicants will usually have an informal interview or conversation with the team to discuss expectations and their motivation.
Detailed logistics and next steps will be communicated to all shortlisted applicants.
