The gym will serve as a safe space for young people to train. Alongside the boxing, it will run free educational courses, including financial education and support with literacy and numeracy. The approach reflects Boxing is Love's wider model, which uses the sport as a route into learning.

Former world champion Félix "Tito" Trinidad and the Mayor of San Juan, Miguel Romero, attended the opening ceremony. The Puerto Rican recording artist Myke Towers, who the foundation supports, was also among the guests.

Boxing is Love thanked Trinidad and Mayor Romero for attending, and paid tribute to the Young Kingz Foundation for its work with young people in Puerto Rico. The charity said it was proud to stand alongside the foundation as the partnership continues to grow.

Boxing is Love works internationally to bring boxing and education to underserved communities. The opening marks a further step in its partnership with the Young Kingz Foundation in Puerto Rico.
