Biography
Rachel Bower is a former Elite national champion turned coach who juggles boxing with a career in the police force. Boxing at Bantam weight she boxed for England, and represented the Police at the World Police and Fire Games in New York and again in Fairfax. After ten years in the ring, she hung up her gloves and turned her hand to coaching. Rachel quickly became a national coach, being appointed as an England Boxing Talent Pathway coach in 2017 and a GB Boxing Development coach in 2023. She holds England Boxing Level 3 and IBA 1* qualifications. Alongside this she runs two Amateur clubs in London, Rathbone ABC and Hawley ABC, where she manages the competitive squads and runs outreach projects for groups such as school children, those with disabilities, veterans and Parkinson’s sufferers. Her boxing career runs parallel with her other passion, policing. Rachel is a Detective Inspector with the Metropolitan Police Service currently heading up the Mets Criminal Finance Team who strip criminals of their assets to ensure crime doesn’t pay.
What boxing means to me
Boxing gave me purpose and revealed what I was truly capable of. It instilled discipline, resilience, and confidence - qualities that now shape every part of my life. I wasn’t the most naturally gifted boxer, but I had a relentless work ethic and a smart approach to training. Through sheer determination and commitment, I reached the top. Today, I use boxing as a tool to help others realise their own potential. Whether it’s an England boxer chasing a world title, a club fighter stepping into the ring for the first time, or a young girl discovering the courage to join her first class - every goal matters. I’m at my best when my two worlds meet: making boxing accessible to all while building trust and confidence in the police through grassroots community projects. Especially in places where hope is hardest to reach. Through Boxraw and the Boxing is Love foundation, I hope to continue this mission - empowering individuals, transforming communities, and proving that with the right support, anything is possible.
