Biography
Oscar is a trainee solicitor and professional boxer. He graduated from the University of Worcester with a first-class law degree (LLB) and obtained a master’s in law and business (LLM) from the University of Law. He made his professional boxing debut in 2024, and boxes under the alias of ‘Oscar De La Lawyer’ a hint to his dual career and a homage to the boxer he was named after. Oscar is credited as being Britain’s only current trainee solicitor and professional boxer. Oscar’s family have a rich heritage in the sport of boxing, his father and uncle are both former world title challengers (the latter also being a former British and Commonwealth champion) and both have trained world champions. Oscar’s brother runs McCracken’s Gym in Birmingham, where the family train several professional fighters and offer boxing classes to the community. Oscar also understands the challenges that young people face today as his mother has been a teacher for over 20 years and has dedicated her life to helping children from the most challenging backgrounds.

What boxing means to me
Most professional boxers’ box because they have to. I box because I love to. Boxing is not just a sport to me, it is part of who I am. I don’t remember the first time I put on a pair of boxing gloves or walked into a boxing gym because I have been around boxing from before a time I can remember. Boxing teaches you the resilience to be successful in and outside the ring and I am proof of that. No other sport can teach you about determination, courage and self belief like boxing. At its core, boxing shows that anyone, regardless of their start in life, can step into the squared circle, fight for themselves and discover the champion within. I am motivated to inspire young people to chase both their dreams in and out of the ring.
