Rakim Sajero

Clinical Psychology

Biography

I’m Rakim Sajero, I have experience in boxing as both an amateur and a professional boxer. I started boxing when I was 8 and have been boxing for most of my life. I have a BSc in Psychology and have studied 2 further postgraduate degrees. I’m aspiring to become a Clinical Psychologist. My goal is to combine boxing and psychology to support boxers and help them find strength in themselves and using the sport to inspire, connect, and create real change. Being part of Boxing is Love, as a Research Fellow, is a step towards that future.

What boxing means to me

Boxing has played a key role in shaping how I approach life and work. It’s taught me discipline, focus, and how to manage pressure, all of which influence how I support others. The structure and mindset developed through boxing help me stay grounded and consistent, whether I’m training, working with young people, or supporting mental health. It connects closely with my professional values, building resilience, setting goals, and helping others develop confidence in themselves.
